Wetland Project Vorning Å – Preliminary Investigation

In 2022-2024 Viborg Municipality concludes a preliminary investigation to explore the possibilities for a wetland project along Vorning Å, east of Lake Tjele Langsø in Viborg. The projects area is located in Nature 2000 area 30: “Lovns Bredning, Hjabæk Fjord, Simested og Nørre Ådale samt Skravad Bæk” in Natureman subregion N30-17 and in Natura 2000 area “Tjele Langsø og Vinge Mølbæk” in Natureman subregion N33-1.

The study area covers approx. 132 ha with around 30 landowners in the area. The purpose of the project is to provide a basis for decision-making regarding the potential implementation of the Vorning Å wetland project. Currently the expectation is that the projects will result in an overall nitrogen reduction of 91 kg. N/ha per year.
