Hydrology Project Drost Peders Høj

Improved Hydrology in Alkaline Fens and Meadows at Drost Peders Høj

The project became possible to implement when The Danish Nature Fund granted DDK 975,000 in support in July 2018 to restore the natural water supply in the area by eliminating a series of drainage channels leading to Jordbro River.

Over two years the projects has focused on restoring natural hydrology in the alkaline fens and meadows north and south of the area. The goal is to ensure that the meadow area and the alkaline fens receive the naturally nutrient-poor, calcareous water from the subsoil, which naturally occurs in the area and supports a variety of rare plant species on the 12-hectare site.

New information boards have also been installed, and the existing trails in the area have been improved.
