Landscape Strategy Nørreådalen
Landscape Strategy Nørreådalen
Viborg, Favrskov and Randers municipalities work together to create an overall landscape strategy for Nørreådalen.
The strategy is made in close cooperation with the important stakeholders for Nørreådalen river valley: Landowners, local communities, businesses and agriculture, associations, etc. It is the University of Copenhagen that plans and implements the process together with the municipalities. The university also draw up the landscape strategy itself.
The process consists, among other things, of several stakeholder activities, where various issues are discussed:
- Landowner interviews
- Morning coffee Meetings
- Lectures and excursions
- Strategy Group
- Regional democratic assembly
- Local strategies
The part of Nørreådalen, located in the municipality of Viborg, coincides with the areas included in Life IP Natureman. Therefore, interviews are funded by Life IP, and specific projects are expected to emerge from this.
An investigation has been conducted on approximately 170 agricultural properties, covering approximately 1,057 hectares.
See the interview report here.
The landscape strategy project in Viborg is part of a complementary project for LIFE IP Natureman - The Farmer as nature manager. The entire inter-municipal project is also included as a research project at the University of Copenhagen: Regional Landscape Strategies.
The landscape strategy was politically approved in Viborg Municipality on November 16th, 2022.

What is a Landscape Strategy?
A landscape strategy is a tool which can be used to work out how Nørreådalen can evolve in the future. That is, it must describe what farmers, users, landowners, communities, businesses and residents can and will focus on in the area.
Consequently, the content of the landscape strategy must be shaped together with everyone who has an interest in the Nørreådalen.
