Development of Knowledge Center for Nature Conservation

The project LIFE IP Natureman will contribute to develop a Knowledge Center for Nature Management, which is based on the practical experience of nature managers and the wishes of the community. 

The center will work to gather practical aspects of nature management, including ecological contexts, tools for voluntary involvement, organization, care methods and their effect on habitat types and biodiversity, design and exhibition of products from nature management, stakeholder involvement, etc.

The Knowledge Center is intended to play a future role as a focal point for an improved exchange of knowledge between nature managers, researchers and consultants within Danish nature management. The goal is to create a platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge, thus ensuring a high professional level and a more cost-effective management. The knowledge center is thought to be established in close cooperation between the Ministry of the Environment and the Food, municipalities, universities and other research institutions, companies and interest organizations.

Prior to this work, it is important to identify and evaluate existing sources of knowledge. They exist today in the form of several databases and websites on the subject, as well as several different people have published over the years, reports, knowledge sheets, fact sheets, etc. on various aspects of nature management. Today, it is difficult to get a comprehensive overview of this existing knowledge, which means that many nature managers do not have easy access to the best available knowledge.

The project has received support from the June 15 Foundation of DKK 220,000 for the preparation of a report that collects existing knowledge and compares it with the needs of the nature managers.
