Skals Å and Kølsen Enge

Skals Å and Kølsen Enge

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has granted a commitment of DKK 1 million for the project "Green partnership at Skals Å and Kølsen Enge". The money comes from the so-called Outdoor Fund, which was created in connection to the agreement on the Nature Package from 2016.

The project aims to establish several facilities for the public around the wetland project wich was establish in 2016 - "Skal Å nedre del Vådområdeprojekt"

After the end of the project, local forces have continued to work with outdoor life in the area, and two bridges have now been established, so that you can follow a walking path along Skals Å from Løgstørvejen all the way to Hjarbæk Fjord. At the fjord, there is also a rest area with stairs down into the stream.

Work continues to establish activities in the area, including a parking space, packed lunch house, launch site, angling platform, walking and cycling paths, lookout tower and lookout point with tables/benches.

The local project team consists of representatives from:

  • Skals Civic Association
  • Kølsen Civic Association
  • Løgstrup Civic Association
  • The Danish Outdoor Council
  • The Danish society for Nature Conservation
  • DOF BirdLife
  • The Danish Anglers' Association (Danmarks Sportsfiskerforbund)

With help from consultant Bendt Nielsen, Bendt Nielsen Tegnestue and Rune Rauff Schultz from Technology and Environment in Viborg Municipality.
