Special care will improve the conditions for the extremely rare brown bog-rush

The extremely rare brown bog-rush has been found in Bjerregrav Mose in Randers Municipality.

Brown bog-rush found in Bjerregrav Mose

Bjerregrav Mose south of Fårup is one of the 6 areas where brown bog-rush can still be found in Denmark. The plant is extremely rare and only 3 tufts remain in the area. In 2020 Randers municipality has in connection with LIFE IP Natureman entered an agreement for the future care of the area with a cooperative landowner. Fences have been set up and animals are now grazing the area. The water level of the area is also monitored on an ongoing basis. The monitoring in LIFE IP will in the coming years show whether the grazing has the special effect and if new tufts of brown bog-rush will be established.
