Wetland Project Lindenborg Å Springs

Wetland Project Lindenborg Å Springs

The project is a municipal wetland project along the upper 1900 meters of Lindenborg Å and the lower 350 meters of the inlet Lunddal stream. The project area includes 5 sub-areas with a total area of 24 hectares. The areas are made more wet by interrupting drains and ditches, as well as re-meandering 3 streams and laying 25 sites of spawning gravel. The water level is also raised within an old aquaculture area, and in the large spring in which Lindenborg Å has its origin as well as on an area (subarea 2) where a spring / drainage outlet is led to the terrain. The restoration of Lindenborg Å also includes the removal of a piped watercourse in order to connect the spring to the rest of the watercourse.Map of the wetland project

The wetland project provides a boost to the nature quality of meadows, springs and streams as well as the ecological connection between Lindenborg Å and the great spring in which the river has its origin. The wetland project is intended to remove 2.2 tonnes of nitrogen per year.

The project was carried out by voluntary agreements with the farmers and a land consolidation including 5 properties and approx. 10 ha.

The project is a joint project between Mariagerfjord municipality and Rebild municipality with Rebild municipality as project owner.
