Joint Initiative Boosts Nature Management: Farmers in Gjøl Share Mowing Equipment for Coastal Meadows

On 22 May, LIFE IP Natureman was able to start a mowing device to mow under fences on the salt meadows at Gjøl. An effort that can meet the great need for mowing under the many meters of fence that is set up in the project.

Adjusting the device – before it could be let loose in the long grass.

In LIFE IP Natureman, several farmers can get together to share a mowing device. Farmers have done this at Gjøl, where the device is in the "stable" at Gjøl Strandenge Koklapperlaug". The Koklapperlauget is responsible for the device being available to all users in Natura 2000 area no. 15 on the northern side of the Limfjord.

Practically speaking, a lending agreement is drawn up with the responsible actor - and we would like to see more people benefit from this opportunity in the project, says Marianne Fisker, who is the project manager and leader of the effort.

On 11 June, a demonstration will be held at Skals Å, where several types of mowing devices and machines will be demonstrated. All project municipalities' networks of nature conservationists are invited. We have learned that not everyone has the same need for mowing devices. Some farmers and conservationists have an ATV, others a tractor or a compact loader on which a mowing tool can be mounted. Therefore, all 3 solutions are shown on the day.

The device has an arm that runs itself around fence posts.
