One of LIFE IP Natureman's main objectives is to improve the quality of nature of the rare habitates alkaline fens, petrifying springs and grassland. On many natural areas, grazing has ceased, and with it the care of the nature types that we must look after.
In the project, work is being done to make nature management an economically viable branch of farming, and in collaboration with the farmer implement a targeted management so that biodiversity is preserved and increased.
The eight municipalities work together and make a wholehearted effort to ensure that areas that are overgrown receive a helping hand in the form of start-up or re-establishment of grazing.
Before we start management measures, we want to know the starting point, so that we can later see if our efforts have the desired effect.
Right now, Jesper from Viborg Municipality is on loan to help record the current state of the nature areas in Jammerbugt Municipality. The project includes a "musketeer agreement" to share resources and specialist experience across municipal boundaries.
Registering plants requires a lot of routine, and therefore it makes good sense for the municipalities to borrow expertise from each other.
