Grassing before clearcutting makes sense in nature management

A new report gathers the experience from a number of examples where clearcutting of overgrown nature areas has been applied as part of the nature management effort.

Is it an advantage to carry out clearcutting first and subsequently establish grazing or vice versa. The report shows that grazing before clearcutting, everything else being equal, often gives the best nature value. Partly due to the slow change of the area and partly because the selection of clearcutting method after some years grazing can be better adapted to the nature found on the area. However, it is difficult to assess whether it is also an economic advantage method
