In the LIFE IP Natureman project Viborg and Vesthimmerland Municipalities has composed a vision report for the development of the area at Simested N. The project area is ca. 653 ha, and the area consists of alkaline fens, springs and nardus grasslands. Simested Å runs through from north to south. The area is a part of Natura 2000-area nr. 30: Lovns Bredning, Hjarbæk Fjord og Skals, Simested og Nørre Ådal samt Skravad Bæk.
