Four new localities of the dragonfly northern emerald in Rold Skov

The dragonfly northern emerald has been searched for in Randers, Maraigerfjord and Rebild Municipalities.

The dragonfly northern emerald is a rare insect. It is known from only a few places in Denmark. In Himmerland it is known from Stubberupvad in Rebild Municipality and Lille Vildmose in Ålborg Municipality. Northern emerald has very high demands on its habitat and is considered an indicator species for e.g. alkaline fens where the natural condition is high. In the summer of 2021, northern emerald was searched after in Randers, Mariagerfjord and Rebild municipalities on localities with alkaline fens and quaking bogs in Rold Skov and Kastbjerg Ådal. The species was not found in Kastbjerg Ådal, while in Rold Skov, it was found in 4 localities.
